START THE CONVERSATION BY SAYING NO TO PLASTIC SINGLE USE DRINKING STRAWS!
For the last three years, our family has had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica to enjoy the beaches, the lifestyle and the marine and wildlife down there. While there, we learned of the #NoStrawChallenge. Immediately we decided that we have to begin somewhere to reduce our "plastic footprint" on this beautiful world we all share.
Returning to Canada, we began educating ourselves about how many plastic straws are used everyday...and the average length of time each straw is used. Think about it...how long does it take to consume a Starbucks Iced Tea or a McDonald's coke? Those straws are all disposed of in our landfills or oceans.
Then our family searched Youtube....have you seen that video of the poor Ridley turtle with the plastic drinking straw being pulled out of his nose....what are we doing to our planet ? It was that video that was the "last straw" for our family. Hopefully yours too. It is time to get rid of single-use plastic drinking straws!
As a family we are now using and offering reusable, compostable and biodegradable straws. Whether it is wheat, bamboo, stainless steel or glass, we offer it.
